A copper-alloy jetton of Medieval date. This is an example of the 'King under canopy' series, c. 1350-1400 (see Mitchiner 1988: 122, no. 271). The jetton has been modified via clipping to remove all of the legend leaving the king holding a sceptre under an arch. The reverse of the jetton, which would have shown a short cross fleury with a crowned fleur de lys in each angle is totally illegible and there appears to have been deliberate abrasion of the reverse surface, perhaps to create a keyed surface for mounting the item, perhaps as part of an item of jewellery. See BH-F90853 for a better preserved and unmodified example of this type of jetton.
