A piece of twisted gold wire forms the circular frame of a Medieval miniature annular brooch (1200-1500). A transverse join is barely visible. The pin is missing. Treasure case no. 2013 T349.

The size of this brooch might indicate that it was made for a child.

11.46mm (outer diameter); 9.67mm (inner diameter); 1.08mm (width); 1.16mm (thickness). Weight: 0.39g.

Notes:

The find contains a minimum of 10% gold and predates 1713. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.
