A clipped Medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377). Pre-Treaty Period, Series G. Initial mark: cross 3, 1356-1361 (North 1991: 52, refs: 1189-1190 variant).

Obverse: EDWAR (annulet) R (annulet) ANGL (annulet) Z [ ]; Shield quartered with the arms of England and France within a tressure of eight arches with trefoils on each point

Reverse: EXALTABITVR IN GLORIA (He shall be exalted in glory). Stops not visible due to clipping; Floriated cross with a lis at the end of each limb; in each angle a lion passant guardant all within a tressure of eight arches. Pellet at centre
