This incomplete cast copper alloy hollow sword pommel weighs 37.74g, has a surviving width of 40.34mm,a surviving length of 26.2mm and a depth of 21.22mm. When complete It would have been circular in plan,suboval in section and would have had a rectangular slot to accommodate the handle fitting. The surviving portion is completely plain. It has a dark brown, uneven patina with spots of bright green. There is a crack to the top of the pommel and it is generally in poor condition. It is most likely a type V ‘disc’ pommel as detailed in the London Museum 1967 Medieval Catalogue, page 22, figure 1, giving it a 12th century date.
