Copper alloy possible pin, as identified by the finder. Cast pin with a slightly biconvex hexagonal head above a plain collar; wear to the head has nearly reduced it to circular form. A very short shank of length 8mm ends in a blunt point. This object is not apt to service as a dress or hair pin. It might have served with a game board with holes drilled to receive pegs. Alternatively, this may be a very small tuning peg, though there is no sign of wear from strings, as would arise with use. Suggested date: possibly Roman, 43-410.
