An early medieval (early Saxon) gilded copper alloy saucer brooch. The hinge and part of the catchplate are missing as is part of the outer edge. The sides are shallow. The decoration comprises a double strand five-point star with a ring and pellet at its centre. The star sits at the centre of a double strand circular frame outside which is an outer circle of zigzags. The brooch falls within Tania Dickinson's 'Star or Multipoint motifs with a zigzag C-field' (p22 and fig 28).
