An incomplete cast copper alloy vessel mount or escutcheon of late Iron Age to Roman date. The main body of the mount is an inverted sub-triangular shape with a flattened D-shaped section and a rectangular projection from the upper edge. The worn remains of a loop project from the upper corners of the rectangular panel with a slight backward curve. Each tip of the triangular body appears to be broken suggesting further elements projected. The reverse of the mount is slightly concaved and undecorated.
The mount is possibly a worn example of an abstract bovine depicted 'head-on' type as seen in LIN-EF25D3. Other parallels on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database include DUR-510214 and HESH-A0AE36.
The metal has a shiny greenish-brown patina and survives in fair condition. The mount is 45.6mm long, 34.8mm wide, 10.9mm thick and weighs 40.4g.
