A complete lead bag seal of late post-medieval date. The seal is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by holes running across its diameter which would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag.
Both sides are stamped with a central motif in a bordered roundel. On one side the image depicts a bird, most probably a pelican and the other side shows a pelican feeding its chicks with blood from its breast. Much of the text around both these images is obscured but from what remains it can be determined that the text reads "G & T EARLE LIMITED HULL" who were ship-owners and cement manufacturers in the early 20th century.
The metal is a mid greyish-white colour and is worn. The seal is 21.8mm in diameter, 4.1mm thick and weighs 9.6g.
