In plan the mount has an octofoil shape with a central square hole for a separately cast square rivet, now missing. The front face is convex with beveling on the edges of the square hole, at which point there are signs of rotational wear. There is a circular groove directly inside of the octofoil decoration. The reverse of the mount is concave. The square hole, flat back and indications of rotational wear suggest that it is probably a back mount for a furniture handle and originally attached to a drawer, cupboard or similar object. The mount has an even light green patina. The mount measures 20.8mm diameter, 1.5mm thick and it weighs 3.21 grams. 2013-04-16 15:44:412013-05-13 12:20:07422012-08-191Probably11313641PAS516D63D8001D6B7141SUSSCopper alloy10627CastCompletePOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxMODERNMOp0gjgrsgn96Metal detectorCircaCirca53934726252724289641421Restricted AccessTQ3708TQ30NENear Lewes263450776100425986SUSS-D63D87 Post Medieval Mount a.jpg258Post Medieval MountSussex Archaeological Society5images/saehoile/South EastEuropean RegionCountyEast SussexDistrictLewesCivil Parish50.8518-0.038947Restricted AccessReturned to finder96265
