A cast copper-alloy Post-Medieval hooked tag of Read's Early Post-Medieval Class E Type 3 hooked tags.It has a flat, circular plate, rectangular suspension loop and integrally cast rear-curving hook. The plate has openwork decoration consisting of a central fleur-de-lis within an inner circle. The border surrounding the heart has moulded decoration on the front face depicting a multifoil or star of 7 points. At the top of the plate is an integral suspension loop that is rectangular in form and section, and has a central rectangular perforation. At the junction of the plate and hook is a moulded transverse ridge and groove, with a small rectangular collar at the top of the hook. The hook itself is D-shaped in section with flat back and rounded front face, curving backwards to a tapering point. The entire object measures 38.01mm in length, 19.78mm in width, 1.43mm in thickness and 3.34g in weight.
This is a hooked tag of Read's Early Post-Medieval Class E Type 3. It finds a near identical parallel in an example published by Read from Staffordshire (2008: no. 380) and dates to the early Post-Medieval period, c.16th-17th centuries AD.
