An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy 'T'-shaped brooch (AD 70-150).
The lower part of the bow and the pin are missing.
The fully enclosed wings contain an iron axis bar and there is a slot at the rear to accommodate the missing pin loop. The wings taper slightly towards the tips. At the front of the wings, close to the tips, there are vertical decorative grooves. These do not extend around to the rear. The bow is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear. In plan, the sides of the bow flare from the head and then taper towards a break. Slightly more than half way down the surviving part of the bow there is a horizontal ridge flanked on either side by a groove. Above this feature there is central vertical ridge flanked on either side by a groove. The ridge has been incised or punched to form 'rope-work'. There is vertical decoration on the lower part of the bow which is indistinct.
This brooch is drab green and the break on the bow is old.
