A complete post-Medieval to Modern copper-alloy trade weight (c. 1750-c. 1850), probably for one ounce. posThe weight is circular and the sides flare outwards from the bottom towards the top where it has a circular flat rim. The upper face has a central concentric groove and is stamped with a quartered shield of London (with sword in first quarter) at 12 o' clock, the sword of St Paul (for the City of London) at 2 o'clock and an ewer (for the Founder's Company, maker of weights), at 7 o'clock. There may be a mark at 9 o' clock, possibly an inverted capital A. The other stamps are all the same way up. The rear face has circular concentric depressions. No file marks. The weight has a matt light green patina.
Maximum diameter: 33.80mm; thickness: 4.82mm. Weight: 26.37g. (0.9300 ounces).
