A Roman copper alloy mount dating 43-410AD. The body of the mount is decoratively cast to form three discs in a line with the central disc larger and one to each side which is smaller. There is a collar in between each of the discs and a small knop projecting from each of the unattached cardinal points of the discs. There is a loop for suspension projecting from the lower edge of the mount; it is set at 90o to the body of the mount. There is another collar at the junction between the loop and the body of the mount. There is an iron rivet still in situ located in the centre of the upper smaller disc and a copper alloy rivet in situ in the centre of the lower smaller disc. The iron rivet passes through the mount and is visible from the front while the copper alloy rivet is only visible from the reverse. There are the remnants of a thin metal plate on the reverse surviving around the lower rivet. There is also a small notch in the base of the suspension loop into which the thin plate sits.
