Fragment of Roman copper alloy Colchester-type brooch, the lower part of the bow and the catchplate only. A channel along the recently damaged catchplate flap indicates a two-piece brooch (i.e. with a Harlow-type spring mechanism). The bow is D-sectioned and undecorated except for a transverse groove immediately above the terminal. There are two triangular and one circular aperture in the catchplate, and at the upper end of the exterior of the flap two moulded transverse ribs. Length more than 45mm (of which 29mm comprises the catchplate). Width at break 4.2mm. c.43 - c.80.
