Incomplete Roman strap-mounted and skirted terret, worn and broken, the upper part of the loop through which the reins would have run is missing, a tranverse rib at the junction with the lower part decorated with incised running chevrons. The stumps of the missing attachment loop are situated beneath four triangular parts of the 'skirt', the front and back parts of which project down over the loop and both sides are upturned with a terminal knop. Length 50mm. Surviving height 34mm. Surviving width 24mm. Other terrets of this type of are known from Norfolk, e.g. from Tattersett (HER 31569). Protected loop terrets are usually considered to be Roman, dating to the late first and second centuries AD.
