A complete cast silver signet finger ring, of Modern dating (19th Centuries AD).

The finger ring is sub circular in plan. The hoop is D shaped in section. The bezel consists of a flat oval shape, set at right angles to the rest of the ring. The bezel is plain. The shoulders of the ring are decorated. The decoration starts with a double horizontal groove across the width of the hoop. Above this, connecting the hoop to the bezel, it separates into three strands, with the outside ones, curling back on themselves, probably imitating the Ionic column style. A vertical discoloration is present at the back of the ring, suggesting that it may have been resized. Filemarks are present on the inside of the hoop. No hallmarks are present.

The finger ring has an external diameter of 24.44 mm, an internal diameter of 21.05 mm. The hoop is 4.66 mm wide and 1.91 mm thick. The bezel is 11.33 mm tall and 8.58 mm wide. The finger ring weighs 6.9 g.

The finger ring is a dull grey colour, with an even surface patina.

Although the finger ring has a precious metal content of greater than 10%, it is not older than 300 years, as it is 19th Century in dating, therefore it falls outside of the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996. It should be considered to be Not Treasure.
