Copper alloy strap end. Cast strap end with a bifurcated and slightly indented end with two drilled attachment holes of diameter 1.9mm. The other end is lost. On one side there are possibly four scratched letters, characters or runes, with corrosion possibly masking more. The size and form of the object resemble those of zoomorphic strap ends of Middle Saxon date, though the loss of a terminal and undecorated plate distinguish this piece from such objects. Suggested date: Middle Saxon, 750-850.
