A copper alloy brooch of late Iron Age or Roman date; a penannular brooch of Fowler's type D. The plain frame is circular in section and the terminals are simply bent backwards on themselves with no further decoration. The pin is a strip of copper alloy which is looped round the frame. Most of the pin is missing. Compare NARC-B1CF06 and NMS-823171 and see "The Origins and Development of the Penannular Brooch in Europe" by Fowler, in the Proceedings of the Prehistoric Society, 1960 for dating. The brooch measures 32.75mm in diameter, 1.95mm in thickness and weighs 3.26g. The frame is corroded and much of the green patina is missing.
