A cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. There is a tubular housing behind the head for the copper alloy axis bar and hinged pin which is missing. There is a short vertical wire projection from the top of the head, possibly the remains of a head loop. The trumpet mouth is decorated with a band of triple moulding, the centre row of which is beaded. A ridge runs along the centre of the upper bow. There is a triple collar above and below the acanthus button, again, with the centre band beaded. The button has five petals above and below, and does not continue round the back of the bow. The lower bow is fluted and the foot is in the form of a lion's paw. The catchplate is missing and there is a crack across the lower bow. The brooch has a dark grey green patina.
