A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of post-medieval date. The fragment is from the base of a vessel with a mid grey fabric with a fairly hard soapy texture and a pale reddish slip. Numerous hard, flat, black inclusions, possibly slate of shale are present.
The fragment is 61.6mm long, 44.3mm wide, 8.2mm thick and weighs 34.5g.
