A base sherd from a Roman Nene Valley colour-coated ware vessel, dating from the mid 2nd to 4th century AD.
Just over half of the circular base remains. The pot has been wheel-thrown and has a pronounced groove on the underside, a short distance in from the edge. The fabric is light yellowish-orange and has no visible inclusions. A brown slip coats the inner surface, whereas that on the outer surface is dark grey and has been applied unevenly.
