A copper-alloy buckle frame of the medieval period. Oval-shaped buckle with integral plate. The buckle loop is of 'D-shaped' section and has a small semi-circular projection on its outer edge where there is a pin rest. There is a rectangular plate which narrows towards the attachment end. There are two rivets holes running down the centre longitudinally with large, circular, cooper-alloy rivets within them. There is a circular hole for the attachment of the pint but it is absent. There is iron staining surrounding this suggesting that it was possibly an iron pin. It is similar to those illustrated on Egan and Pritchard (1991), p. 106. It is likely to be of thirteenth- or fourteenth-century date. It measures 39.59mm in length, 15.36mm in width, 3.80mm in thickness (excluding the rivets) and weighs 5.67g.
