An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy skillet handle (c. 1679-1695).
The handle is rectangular in plan and semi-circular in cross-section throughout its length. The upper face has engraved letters: [CLEME]NT X TO[SEAR ] bounded by a linear groove near each edge close to the side.
The object is partially corroded and has a patchy dark green patina. The breaks are old.
Length: 69.87mm; width: 25.90mm; thickness: 11.21mm. Weight: 112.26g.
Clement Tosear I was a bell founder who was operating in Salisbury, c. 1679 till his death in 1695 (Butler & Green 2003: 122-123).
