A complete cast, copper alloy object, of unknown date, probably a buckle / strap / belt fitting.
The artefact is broadly triangular in plan and profile. The lower edge extends to form a broken and distorted D shaped ring / hoop. The upper part of the fitting gas a broad but thin longitudinal slot that extends about half the length of the object. It was possibly usd as a sliding belt fitting, with the belt passing through the slot, and the end piercing being used to suspend something. Although the slot measures 13.2mm long and 2.7mm wide. The artefact has a well developed dark green patina, with light green corrosion around the break. The edges are eroded and corroded. The patina suggests a date earlier then post-medieval (possibly from the late medieval (AD 1100 - 1600)
