A complete cast copper alloy finger ring of probable Modern date, circa AD1800-1900. The copper alloy has a high tin content. The ring is in good condition, retaining its original form. A small residue on the inside of the ring suggests that it was originally silvered and both the inside and outside surfaces have areas of brown corrosion. The ring takes the form of a wide band which is rimmed on both edges. Within the recessed field formed by the protruding edges, is a moulded decoration comprising of two elephants facing each other with raised trunks with a ball suspended between them. This design is repeated on the other side of the ring. Separating the main design is a repetitive abstract leaf-shaped motif, repeated four times on one side of the ring and twice on the other side. The inside of the ring is plain. The ring has an external diameter of 20.67mm. The width of the ring is 7.44mm. Thickness is 1.32m. Weight is 4.5g.
