A fragment of a Medieval silver annular brooch. Treasure case no. 2013 T114.
This fragment is about 50% of a circular frame and the pin is missing. It is convex at the front and flat at the rear. At the front, a pin-rest is flanked on either side by a transverse ridge and groove. The frame is worn and the breaks appear to be recent.
The find contains a minimum of 10% silver and predates 1713. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.
Diameter: 24.64mm; width of frame: 3.40mm; thickness of frame: 1.42mm. Weight: 1.06g.
