An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative double pierced lug bow brooch. It is missing most of its pin due to old breaks but is otherwise complete but worn. The wings are semi-cylindrical in form, undecorated and separated at their centre by a rear facing double pieced lug. This holds in place a separately cast axis bar, spring chord and spring of six surviving coils, the pin now incomplete due to old breaks. The lug extends forwards onto the head of the brooch where it develops into a vertical mid rib running the length of the bow. The bow itself is triangular in section with flat back face. It has double fluting either side of the head of the brooch, one flute on each side running the length of the bow. At its foot the bow tapers to a rounded point, on the back face of which is an integrally cast catchplate that is triangular in form with folded outer edge. The entire object measures 40.40mm in length, 19.20mm in width at wings, 8.97mm in width at bow, 3.06mm in thickness and bow, and 5.61g in weight.

This is an incomplete Roman Colchester derivative double pierced lug bow brooch. It is of 1st century AD date, c.43-100 AD.
