An incomplete cast copper alloy candle holder of post-medieval date. The holder is hollow and circular with tapering sides decorated with evenly spaced double banded circumferential grooves. The base of the holder tapers to a worn break and the interior is undecorated.
The metal has a mid greenish-brown patina and is worn. The holder is 47.7mm long, 22.5mm in diameter, 1.9mm thick and weighs 46.7g.
A similar example can be seen in Egan p.81, fig.69, no.337 and is dated to c.1530 - 1650. Similar examples can also be seen on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database as NCL-B92ED5, IOW-AF4617 and BERK-8FEF75.
