A ceramic vessel rim sherd of Roman date; a piece of greyware. The rim has a rounded top and is out-turned, but the wall of the vessel slopes inwards to the neck. The fabric is grey in colour (discoloured to green by algae) and quite hard. The texture is fine and the breaks are worn. The matrix is very uniform with very small grit and quartz inclusions. The rim diameter is about 28cm.
