A Medieval (1150-1450) copper alloy rectangular buckle plate. The copper alloy sheet is folded back on itself, providing a hole for the pin and creating a front and a back plate, both of which are intact. It measures 35.30mm in length, is max. 21.61mm wide and 4.47mm thick. It weighs 7.36g. 4mm in from the short edge opposite the folded edge is a 2.30mm diameter rivet hole. There is additionally an intact rivet in each corner of this edge (rivet head c.2mm diameter). Both front and back surfaces are rather worn but there is a possible trace of zigzag engraving on both the front and back plates along one long side.
