A complete struck/hammered copper alloy jetton of the 'Venus' penny stock jetton type, issued in the Low Countries between c. AD 1490s and AD 1550s (Mitchiner, 1988, 264-275).
The jetton is heavily worn. The obverse depicts the Austro-Burgundian Shield (AD 1482 to AD 1550). The obverse inscription starts with a Crown as the initial mark, followed by a fictitious legend. The reverse depicts a standing woman, facing with long, flowing hair tied by a how and wearing only a drape. The reverse inscription starts with a Crown as a reverse mark, followed by a fictitious legend.
The jetton is a dark brown colour, with an even surface patina. A small 'teardrop' or pointed oval shaped perforation is present at 9 o'clock on the obverse. This piercing is probably not deliberate.
It has a diameter of 29.63 mm, and is 0.93 mm thick. It weighs 3.5 grams.
