An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle frame, of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1750).
Approximately 5-10% of the buckle frame is present. The buckle plate and pin are missing, presumed lost in antiquity, with the rest of the frame.
The frame fragment is trapezoidal in plan and rectangular in section. The front of the buckle frame has recessed foliate moulded decoration. The reverse is plain.
The buckle frame fragment measures 21.56 mm in length, 9.08 mm wide and 2.85 mm thick. It weighs 2.7 g.
Similar style decoration has been noted on no 491 (Whitehead, 1996, 79) from a double looped rectangular buckle frame, and has been dated to the Early Post Medieval Period (AD 1600 to c. AD 1750s).
