A post-medieval cast copper alloy coin weight for a half guinea probably of William III. The obverse depicts a bust facing right surrounded by a legend which is no longer legible and the reverse is a crown above 1/2//GVINEA//W. The coin weight is 16.6mm in diameter, 2.5mm thick and weighs 54.3 grains (3.53g)
The dating of the coin weight is associated with the bust and although it is not particularly clear due to wear, the only half guinea coin weights with one bust facing right, and with the reverse crown and legend 1/2//GVINEA//W, is of William III (1694-1702) (Withers and Withers 1995, 28).
