A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a double looped asymmetrical shape with bevelled inside and outside edges and a narrowed strap bar. The buckle is undecorated and the pin no longer survives.
The metal has a dark greenish-black patina and is worn. The buckle is 25.4mm long, 17.5mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 2.7g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.90, no.562 and is dated to circa 1575 - 1700.
