An oval, cast copper alloy medieval buckle of the composite type with a forked spacer, dating from AD 1350-1500. It consists of the oval looped frame and both arms of the forked spacer, the inner sides of which are stepped. In the centre of the outer edge of the loop is a pointed projection. Between the inner ends of the spacer is a narrowed pin bar. A copper alloy wire pin remains looped round the bar. Both plates are misssing. The buckle displays a light green patina.
Similar buckles are illustrated in Egan & Pritchard, 1991, Dress Accessories, c1150-c1450, pages 79-81.
