Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot and part of the leg. The leg is C shaped in section with a concave back and convex front back; it is broken off just above a transverse collar with an old break. The prominent collar is rounded in section. The flaring foot is also C-shaped in section with seven raised ribs running down the front. The base of the foot is rounded. It is 51.5mm long, 31.1mm wide and 15.8mm thick; it weighs 107 grams.
Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) suggest there were four main types of leg used. This is a type C which they suggest was already in use by the 16th century and was almost universal in the 17th.
