A copper-alloy signet finger ring, dating from the Late Medieval to early post-Medieval periods.
The ring is 'stirrup shaped', the D-sectioned hoop expanding towards the shoulders, which flare into an oval bezel. Engraved into this bezel is the capital letter 'I' or 'H' (depending on orientation) contained within a beaded border, from the inner edge of which project inwards four equally-spaced chevrons.
Dimensions: hoop: 30mm wide, 31.8mm long/deep (bezel to back of hoop); bezel: 15.7mm wide. Weight: 21.25g.
