TREASURE CASE 2013 T6:
Medieval gold finger-ring, with a tall conical hollowed bezel of oval form, now lacking the stone. The hoop is of facetted wire, with notable wear, and is now much distorted with a break at the base of the hoop with black discolouration at the tips of the break indicating a repair may have been attempted at some point in the past.
The ring is Medieval and most probably dates to the 13th century, c.1200-1300.
Dimensions: Bezel length 7.9mm; bezel width (from shoulder to shoulder) 7.1mm, bezel height 6.4mm; hoop diameter approximately 20.16mm, hoop thickness tapers from 1.2mm at shoulders to 0.5mm at breaks; weight 1.3g
Notes:
This finger ring is similar to other examples also reported via the Treasure Act, and is especially close in form to previous Treasure Case 2005 T370 from Hampshire (PAS reference: KENT-502EE8). As this item is more than 300 years old and composed of more than 10% precious metal, it should therefore be considered Treasure under the terms of the Treasure Act 1996.
