An upright rounded rim sherd from a Roman vessel, possibly a carinated bowl. The sherd is probably from the Oxford kilns and was a colour coated vessel, although any slip has now been completely worn from the surfaces. There are traces of rouletted decoration under the rim on the external surface. As is typical of Roman Oxfordshire kiln products the vessel has fired bright orange in colour and is made from a fine sand tempered, micaeous clay (Ellison in Leach 1982, 152-155). The sherd weighs 8.34g.
