Roman silver plated contemporary copy of a Roman Republican denarius of the moneyer C. Clodius C. F. Vestalis. Prototype struck at Rome in 41 BC (Reece Period 1). C CLODIVS, C F, Head of Flora right / VESTALIS, seated female figure. RRC p. 521, cf. no. 512/2. Countermark in reverse field, E, which suggests that this plated copy was mistaken for an official specimen at some stage in its life. The prototype is a scarce coin, there only being 30 obverse and 33 reverse dies recorded.

This coin appears to be silver plated, noted by the damage and the appearance of a different material (probably iron) used underneath.
