A short length of gold strip from an unidentified object of uncertain date. The strip is rectangular in section and has rounded ends. It is bent double and has some damage at the bend. The strip is undecorated.
Due to a lack of archaeological context and diagnostic features it is not possible to assign this to any particular date or culture and is best regarded as an undiagnostic fragment.
The strip can be compared to YORYM-90AE41 (2011 T743) and BUC-CC8463 (2010T510).
Discussion:
Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find, and despite it containing a minimum of 10% precious metal, it cannot be securely dated to pre-1710 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
