Roman copper alloy Polden hill bow brooch, 55mm long, 37mm wide and 15mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition and weighs 17.66grams. The brooch has open wings (missing the spring) which are decorated with two curved lines which flank a small annulet at the top and bottom. flanking in the bow are two lines of rope like decoration. The bow itself sits on a plain platform and is rectangular in section. Each side of this has a recessed border containing a slightly domed plain surface. The front had chevron like linear incisions at its top and is then decorated with two converging recessed bands.
