A silver hammered half groat of Elizabeth I. Obverse shows crowned bust left, with two pellets behind head. Obverse legend reads EDG ROSA SINE SPINA. Initial mark is a 1 dating to 1601-1602. Reverse shows royal shield with long cross fluery over. Reverse legend reads CIVI/TAS/LON/DON. Mint is London. Reverse initial mark is a 1. Die axis is 8 o'clock, diameter is 15.57mm, thickness is 0.53mm. See North, p.137, no.2016. Also see IOW-CAE3E5.
