A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape with lipped frame and narrowed and offset strap bar. A plate comprised of a single sheet of copper alloy folded around the strap bar is present with a single rivet at the attachment end.
The metal has a mid greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 19.1mm long, 12.7mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 1.8g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.20, no.72 and is dated to circa AD 1350 - 1450.
