Fragment of tertiary debitage reworked to form an awl or borer of either late Mesolithic or early Neolithic date (c.4000BC - 2900BC). The debitage is flake like being broadly triangular in plan and rectangular in section. The edges have been knapped to form sharply sloping edges and both the dorsal and ventral faces knapped to create serrated edges. The most reworking is present along one corner creating a sharpened point / boring tool. The flint is a mid grey white colour and has been slightly abraded in the ploughsoil. The source of flint is difficult to ascertain; much of the local flint is procured from glacial and riverine sources.

The flake measures 22.9mm length, 20.9mm width is 3.5mm thick and weighs 1.84 grams
