Copper alloy brooch. Colchester derivative brooch, possibly Mackreth type 4a. Cast, with semi-tubular wings with paired line decoration on either side, clasped by a plain bow with a ridge along its crest; this may have risen to form a ridge or crest at the head. The bow tapers towards the stub of an apparently unpierced catch plate. The wings presumably retained a spring (now lost). Abraded. Suggested date: Early Roman, 50-70.
Length: 51.1mm, Width: 39.8mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 10.9mm, Weight: 27.92gms.
