Lead musket ball. Cast shot with possible bite marks on opposed sides and a small impact or ramming scar between them. This object weighs just over an ounce, and would therefore qualify as suitable for a smooth bore musket of military specification. This is one of numerous such shot reported from the vicinity, which may indicate military activity in the area, possibly as a training area rather than as a field of conflict. A date in the later part of the range suggested may be more likely. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1800.
