Late Saxon copper alloy Winchester style tongue-shaped strap-end. Split end now filled with iron corrosion from two iron rivets, double sided openwork decoration depicting stylised foliage consisting of transverse ridges and symmetrically placed holes terminating in a jagged lower edge with short, worn projections with cusps between, with a small part of the lower edge missing. Despite the broken appearance the lower edge is almost certainly complete or nearly complete (Rogerson, A. and Ashley, S. in Naylor 2013, 278 - 280). Surviving length 29mm. Width 19mm. Late 9th - 11th century. A6.
