A Colchester-derivative two-piece brooch dating to the mid to late first century AD. The head of the brooch comprises two plain semi-circular wings (one of which is larger than the other), decorated with a crest which resembles the rearward hook of one-piece Colchester brooches. Behind the wings is a lug with two piercings, through which the axial bar and chord would originally have been threaded. The spring and pin are missing. The bow extends from the head and is trapezoidal in section. It is decorated with a longitudinal rib, flanked by a groove on either side, which run the length of the bow. This rib is decorated with incised zig-zag decoration. The catchplate, which reaches half way up the bow, is triangular with openwork decoration comprising a circle and triangle. The brooch measures 45mm in length; the wings measure 17mm in width. The bow measures 5mm in width.
