A Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy openwork stud (c. AD 1400-1600).

This stud is mainly convex at the front and concave at the rear. In plan, it has four evenly spaced fleurs-de-lis arranged around a hexagonal centre-piece. This arrangement creates four heart-shaped openings. At the centre of the rear face there is a tapering spike, square in cross-section.

Length: 40.74mm; width: 38.75mm; thickness: 14.49mm. Weight: 10.22g.

The reddish brown metal is largely covered with light green corrosion products.
